New-MAD Mix F-5 - I acquired this very cool new F5 after playing and liking the four or five New-MADs that I've had the chance to try out since they hit the market. If you are skeptical about carbon fiber construction, rest assured you will find this to be a surprisingly good-sounding instrument. The tone makes you quickly forget that it is made of carbon fiber. The distinctive tone characteristic is a very nice brilliance and clarity in any position up the neck. It sounds particularly good plugged in due to the internal Schertler pickup. It is also the best mandolin available for worry-free travel and outdoor jamming. I like having this one around - it's only for sale because I just have too many to be able to play them all regularly. $5250.
